Procedure
3.15 g (10 mmoles) of 3,5-dibromo-1-(2'-hydroxyethyl)-4-nitropyrazole are heated in 70 ml of a 30-percent solution of methylamine in water for 1 hour at 60° C. After cooling, the product precipitates in the form of bright yellow crystals with a melting point of 158° to 160° C. 2.4 g (91 percent of theory) of 3-bromo-1-(2'hydroxyethyl)-5-methylamino-4-nitropyrazole are obtained.
