Procedure
For example, C12H25S(CH2CH2O)10H, such as Tergitol 12-M10, can be reacted with phosgene in the presence of triethyl amine to yield the corresponding acid chloride, C12H25S(CH2CH2O)10COCl, which in turn, is reacted with a fluoroaliphatic alcohol such as (CF3)2CFO--CF2CF2 --CH2CH2CONH(CH2)3OH, disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 3,697,564, in the presence of triethylamine in diethyl ether to yield a product of the formula (CF3)2CFO--CF2CF2CH2CH2CONH(CH2)3OCO(OCH2CH2)10S--C12H25.
