Procedure
To a solution of 1-(thieno[3,2-c]pyridin-2-yl)ethanone (D′-3) (3.5 g, 1 mmol) in anhydrous THF (50 mL) was added LiAlH4 (1.13 g, 1.5 mmol) in portions at 0° C. The suspension was stirred under this temperature for 1 h. The reaction mixture was quenched with saturated aqueous NH4Cl solution and filtered. The filtrate was washed with brine, concentrated, and then used for the next step without any further purification.
