Procedure

Two hundred grams of CB-A is added to a solution of 10.1 g sulfanilic acid and 6.23 g of concentrated nitric acid in 21 g of water. A solution of 4.87 g of NaNO2 in 10 g of water is added to the rapidly stirring mixture. 4Sulfobenzenediazonium hydroxide inner salt is formed in situ, which reacts with the carbon black. After 15 minutes, the dispersion is dried in an oven at 125 C.
