Procedure

A mixture of 3-(4-pyridinylamino)-1,2-benzisoxazole (0.9g, 4.3 mmol) and methyl bromoacetate (0.44 mL, 1. 1 eq) in acetonitrile (25 mL) was heated at reflux for one hour. The mixture was then allowed to cool to room temperature and the precipitated product was collected by filtration. The white solid was washed with diethyl ether and dried under vacuum to provide the title compound (1 g, 70%), mp 235-236° C.
