Procedure

In 30 ml of dry benzene containing 0.50 g (0.005 mol) of triethylamine was dissolved 1.36 (0.005 mol) of 4-(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl)-1-methyl-5-hydroxypyrazole, and then 1.07 g (0.005 mol) of p-acetylbenzylbromide was added thereto. The resulting mixture was heated under reflux for 3 hours. After cooling the reaction mixture, the salt precipitated was filtered off and the solvent was distilled off therefrom under reduced pressure. The resulting oil was purified through column chromatography on silica gel using benzene/ethyl acetate 8:1 as an eluent to give 1.67 g of the title compound (yield 83%).
