Environmental Fate · 4 件

TERRESTRIAL FATE: Based on a classification scheme(1), the wide range of Koc values for dyphonate, from 68(2) to 5,128(3), indicate that dyphonate may have very high to no mobility in soil(SRC). The adsorption of dyphonate increases with decreasing temperature and increase in organic content, particularly humic acid and associated cation content(4). Volatilization of dyphonate from moist soil surfaces is expected to be an important fate process(SRC) given an estimated Henry's Law constant of 7.0X10-6 atm-cu m/mole(SRC), based upon its vapor pressure, 3.38X10-4 mm Hg(5), and water solubility, 15.7 mg/l(6). However, adsorption to soil is expected to attenuate volatilization(SRC). Dyphonate is not expected to volatilize from dry soil surfaces(SRC) based upon it's vapor pressure(5). Estimated soil half-lives of 120 and 150 days under aerobic and anaerobic conditions, respectively(7), indicate that biodegradation may be an important environmental fate process in soil(SRC).

TERRESTRIAL FATE: Depending on the nature of soil and climatic conditions, the field half-life of dyphonate in soil ranged from 18-82 days(1-3); an average half-life of 40 days has been suggested(4).

AQUATIC FATE: Based on a classification scheme(1), the wide range of Koc values for dyphonate, from 68(2) to 5,128(3), indicate that dyphonate may adsorb to suspended solids and sediment(SRC). Volatilization from water surfaces is expected(4) based upon an estimated Henry's Law constant of 7.0X10-6 atm-cu m/mole(SRC), derived from its vapor pressure, 3.38X10-4 mm Hg(5), and water solubility, 15.7 mg/l(6). Estimated volatilization half-lives for a model river and model lake are 8 and 66 days, respectively. However, volatilization from water surfaces may be attenuated by adsorption to suspended solids and sediment in the water column. The estimated volatilization half-life from a model pond is 2.3 yrs if adsorption is considered(7). According to a classification scheme(8), a BCF of 300(5), suggests the potential for bioconcentration in aquatic organisms is high(SRC). However, aquatic organisms readily metabolize this class of compounds(9) and organophosphates can be altered chemically(10) once released into the environment. Dyphonate is stable to hydrolysis, with half-lives of 110-435 days being reported(5,11). Estimated soil half-lives of 120 and 150 days under aerobic and anaerobic conditions, respectively(11), suggest that biodegradation may occur in the aquatic environment(SRC).

ATMOSPHERIC FATE: According to a model of gas/particle partitioning of semivolatile organic compounds in the atmosphere(1), dyphonate, which has a vapor pressure of 3.38X10-4 mm Hg at 25 °C(2), will exist in both the vapor and particulate phases in the ambient atmosphere. Vapor-phase dyphonate is degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals(SRC); the half-life for this reaction in air is estimated to be 4.5 hrs(SRC), calculated from its rate constant of 8.9X10-11 cu cm/molecule-sec at 25 °C(3). Particulate-phase dyphonate may be removed from the air by wet and dry deposition(SRC). When dyphonate deposited on silica gel chromatoplates was exposed to sunlight, some photodegradation of dyphonate was observed(4).

Food Survey Values · 1 件

At a detection limit of 0.1 mg/kg, dyphonate has been detected at low frequency both in raw agricultural commodities and in adult total diet samples(1-4). Dyphonate was detected not quantified in domestic and imported food samples analyzed in fiscal year 1994(5). The compound was detected in 2 of 416 carrot samples at 2.0 and >2.0 ppm, respectively; 1 of 137 onion samples at 0.10 ppm; 1 of 769 potato samples at <0.05 ppm, analyzed as part of a Canadian fruit and vegetable commodity survey of 21,982 samples conducted over a 27-month period from 1/1/92 to 3/31/94(6).

As the federal pesticide law FIFRA directs, EPA is conducting a comprehensive review of older pesticides to consider their health and environmental effects and make decisions about their future use. Under this pesticide reregistration program, EPA examines health and safety data for pesticide active ingredients initially registered before November 1, 1984, and determines whether they are eligible for reregistration. In addition, all pesticides must meet the new safety standard of the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996. Fonofos is found on List A, which contains most food use pesticides and consists of the 194 chemical cases (or 350 individual active ingredients) for which EPA issued registration standards prior to FIFRA, as amended in 1988. Case No: 0105; Pesticide type: insecticide; Registration Standard Date: 03/01/84; Case status: None of the active ingredients in the case are being supported for reregistration by their registrants. All are unsupported, or some are unsupported and some are cancelled. Cases described as "unsupported" generally are being processed for cancellation.; Active ingredient (AI): Fonofos; Data Call-in (DCI) Date(s): 11/18/91, 10/13/95; AI Status: Registrants of the pesticide have not made or honored a commitment to seek reregistration, conduct the necessary studies, or pay the requisite fees, or they have asked EPA to cancel their product registrations. Unless some other interested party supports them, products containing the pesticide will be cancelled.

All remaining fonofos products were canceled effective November 2, 1998; Registrants' sale and distribution of existing stocks was permitted until November 2, 1999; Existing stocks already in the hands of dealers and users can be distributed, sold, and used until these stocks are exhausted.

Organophosphates poison insects and mammals primarily by phosphorylation of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme at nerve endings. ... At sufficient dosage, loss of enzyme function allows accumulation of acetylcholine (the impulse- transmitter substance) at cholinergic neuroeffector junctions (muscarinic effects, and at skeletal myoneural junctions and in autonomic ganglia (nicotinic effects). Drugs that inhibit cholinesterases. The neurotransmitter ACETYLCHOLINE is rapidly hydrolyzed, and thereby inactivated, by cholinesterases. When cholinesterases are inhibited, the action of endogenously released acetylcholine at cholinergic synapses is potentiated. Cholinesterase inhibitors are widely used clinically for their potentiation of cholinergic inputs to the gastrointestinal tract and urinary bladder, the eye, and skeletal muscles; they are also used for their effects on the heart and the central nervous system.

After a single oral or ip dose of fonofos labeled in the ring position, 98% of the radioactivity was excreted in the urine and feces within 96 hours. Conditioning with unlabeled fonofos did not change the excretion pattern. Excretion of radioactivity from the (14)C-ethoxy moiety was essentially complete in 4 days, with about 91% in the urine, 7.4% in the feces, and 0.35% in the expired air. Radioactivity in the bile was an important source of activity in the feces. Tissue residues were very small and had virtually disappeared by the 16th day.

Rapidly absorbed through the skin.

When plants were grown in nitrogen deficient nutrient solution, concentration of dyfoxon /metabolite/ in greens were reduced due to deficiencies of all elements (potassium, calcium, and magnesium) except nitrogen.
