실험 절차

1-(4-Methoxymethyloxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-buten-3-one (35j, 1.00 g, 4.2 mmol) and benzaldehyde (1b, 0.46 ml, 4.5 mmol) were combined in ethanol (10 ml) and stirred for 15 min at room temperature. A solution of sodium hydroxide (0.30 g, 7.5 mmol) and water (10 ml) was added and the mixture stirred for 18 hr at room temperature. The resulting mixture was extracted into ethyl acetate, washed with saturated sodium chloride, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and evaporated to give 1.35 g (99%) of an oil which was used without purification. The oil (36j, 1.30 g, 4.0 mmol) was stirred in methanol (50 ml) for 15 min at 60° C. Concentrated hydrochloric acid (3 drops) was added and the solution stirred for 18 hr at 60° C. The methanol was evaporated and the resulting residue extracted into ethyl acetate, washed with saturated sodium chloride, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and evaporated to afford a semi-solid. The crude semi-solid was chromatographed on silica gel with ethyl acetate/hexane to give 0.41 g (36%) of a yellow oil; 1H NMR δ 3.92 (s, 3H), 6.08 (s, 1H), 6.91 (d, 1H, J=16.1 Hz), 6.93 (d, 1H, J=8.2 Hz), 7.07 (d, 1H, J=15.9 Hz), 7.10 (s, 1H), 7.15 (d, 1H, J=8.0 Hz), 7.38 (m, 3H), 7.59 (m, 2H), 7.67 (d, 1H, J=15.9 Hz), 7.71 (d, 1H, J=15.9 Hz); 13C NMR: δ 56.0, 109.8, 114.9, 123.4, 125.3, 127.3, 128.3, 128.8, 130.3, 134.9, 142.8, 143.5, 146.8, 148.3, 188.7.
