In 30 ml of methanol was dissolved 4.09 g of methyl 3-[(2-guanidinothiazol-4-yl)methylthio]propionimidate and then 15 ml of a methanol solution of 2.88 g of sulfamide was added to the solution under refluxing. After refluxing for about 3 hours, the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by a silica gel column chromatography using a mixture of chloroform and methanol (20:1→10:1) as the developing solvent to provide 3,26 g of N-sulfamoyl-3-[(2-guanidinothiazol-4-yl)methylthio]propionamidine.
