Reaction Steps
A solution of 3-ethoxy-4methoxybenzaldehyde, N-tert-octylhydroxylamine and catalytic amount of HCl in methanol was refluxed for 90 hrs with molecular sieves in a soxhlet for waster removal. The title compound was obtained in 60.0% yield as white powder, m.p. 77.5° C. (Rf =0.40 on a silica gel plate using hexanes:EtOAc, 3:2, v:v, as an eluant).
