Procedure

A mixture of 13-3 (8.5 g, 28 mmol), 10% Pd/C (1.7 g), and ethanol (140 mL) was stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere for 20 h. The reaction mixture was then filtered through a celite pad and concentrated to give 13-4 as a pale yellow oil.
