Synthesis of a dye with formula XVI, R'=R"=CH3, n=2, A-=CH3SO4 was performed as described below. A solution of 1,4-diaminoanthraquinone-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride (3.08 g) and dimethylaminoethylamine (1.32 g) in acetic acid (30 ml) is heated to boiling and boiled for 4 hours to form a reaction mixture. Then, the reaction mixture is cooled, and the resultant precipitate is filtered, washed with ethyl alcohol, and dried to yield 3.6 g of 1,4-diaminoanthraquinone-2,3-dicarboxylic acid dimethylaminoethylimide.
