tert-Butyl (±)-cis-(acetyloxy)methyl]-1-[(3,3,3-trifluoropropanoyl)-amino]cyclopropane carboxylate (489 mg, 1.44 mmol) was dissolved in a mixture of 4 mL of methylene chloride and 1.22 mL of trifluoroacetic acid. The reaction mixture was allowed to stir at ambient temperature for 3.5 hours. The solvents were removed in vacuo and the residue was azeotroped with toluene (450 ml) to afford 408 mg of (±)-cis-(acetyloxy)methyl]-1-[(3,3,3-trifluoropropanoyl)amino]cyclopropane-carboxylic acid.
