Reaction Steps
The method described in Example 4 is applied with the alteration that instead of 2-methoxynaphthalene 3.32 g (20 mmol) of 1-carboxy-4-ethoxybenzene is used yielding 1.86 g (61.2%) of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid.
