To a solution of 1.3 g (3.5 mmol) of the above 3-[1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-4-hydroxypiperidin-4-yl]-1-naphthoic acid in 10 mL of methanol and 10 mL of ether was added 2.0 mL (4.0 mmol) of a 2.0 M solution of (trimethylsilyl)diazomethane in ether. Glacial acetic acid was the added dropwise until gas evolution ceased and then the reaction was concentrated in vacuo to yield the crude title compound as a yellow oil. LC/MS 408.1 (M+23).
