Procedure
A mixture of 0.349 g of (4-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridin-1-yl-phenyl)-acetic acid methyl ester and 3.5 ml of an 6 N aqueous solution of HCl is stirred and refluxed for 3 hours. The mixture obtained is allowed to cool to rt and is concentrated in vacuo. (4-Imidazo[4,5-c]pyridin-1-yl-phenyl)-acetic acid in the form of a hydrochloric acid salt is obtained: ES-MS: 254.0 [M+H]+; single peak at tR=1.20 min (System 1).
