Procedure
To 2-methyl-1-butanol (0.855 mL) in DME (4 mL) was added sodium tert-butoxide (760 mg). The mixture was stirred at room temperature until homogeneous. 2-Chloro-9-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-9H-purin-6-amine (500 mg) was added followed by DME (4 mL). The reaction was heated at 110° C. overnight. The mixture was cooled and concentrated in vacuo to give a yellow residue. The residue was taken up in water (30 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (2×30 mL). The organics were separated and washed with brine (30 mL). The organics were separated, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as a yellow/brown residue. This material was taken on to the next step without further purification.
