tert-Butyl{[5-bromo-1-(pyridin-3-ylsulfonyl)-1H-pyrrol-3-yl]methyl}methylcarbamate (431 mg), (2-chloropyridin-3-yl)boronic acid (237 mg), sodium hydrogencarbonate (126 mg) and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (87 mg) were added to a degassed mixture of 1,2-dimethoxyethane (8 mL) and water (2 mL), and the mixture was stirred under a nitrogen atmosphere at 100° C. for 3 hr. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool, a saturated aqueous sodium hydrogencarbonate solution was added, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent:hexane-ethyl acetate=1:1→1:4) to give the title compound as a colorless oil (yield 280 mg, 60%).
