Dissolve 7-chloro-3-(2,2,2-trifluoroacetyl)-6-hydroxy-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[d]azepine (2.0 g, 6.80 mmol) in methanol (100 mL). Add potassium carbonate (14.08 g, 102 mmol) in water (50 mL) slowly. Stir the reaction at RT for 2 h, add tert-butoxycarbonyl anhydride (1.59 g, 7.48 mmol) in DCM (70 mL) and stir vigorously for 17 h. Concentrate the organic layer, wash the aqueous layer with DCM (3×50 mL), combine the organic layers, dry (MgSO4) and concentrate to give the title compound (2.12 g, 100%).
