A solution of (5R)-3-{6-[2-{[(3-aminophenyl)methyl]oxy}ethoxy]hexyl}-5-(2,2-dimethyl-4H-1,3-benzodioxin-6-yl)-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one (2.20 g) in pyridine (20 ml) under nitrogen was treated with 3-nitrobenzoyl chloride (819 mg) and the mixture was stirred at 20° for 2.5 h. Sat. sodium bicarbonate solution (100 ml) was added and the mixture was extracted with dichloromethane (2×50 ml). The combined extracts were dried (Na2SO4) and the solvent evaporated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel. Elution with EtOAc-PE (2:1) gave the title compound (2.11 g). LCMS RT=3.71 min, ES+ve 648 (MH)+.
