Procedure
A solution of 10% hydrochloric acid in methanol (8 ml) was added to a solution of 5-[4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-(3-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxy)phenylimino]-3-formyl-1,3,4-thiadiazolidin-2-one (33 g) in acetone (60 ml). After stirring for 0.5 hour, the solvents were removed and the residue processed. A minimal amount of ethanol was used to dissolved the residue and hexane added to induce crystallization. The crystals were filtered off and dried to give the product (1.0 g, 36%).
