4-(3H-Inden-1-yl)-1H-imidazole hydrochloride (80 mg) is dissolved in ethanol (6 ml). The reaction solution is hydrogenated at 40-50° C. with 10% palladium on carbon as catalyst until no more hydrogen is consumed. Work-up of the reaction mixture gives the crude product which is purified by flash chromatography using methylene chloride-methanol as eluent.
