Reaction Steps
A suspension of 2-(t-butoxycarbonyl)amino-4,6-dimethyl-5-nitrobenzimidazole (0.625 g, 2.04 mmol) in ethanol (70 mL) is treated with hydrogen at 45 psi for 15 hours. The mixture is filtered on Celite and the filtrate is rotary evaporated to afford 5-amino-2-(t-butoxycarbonyl)amino-4,6-dimethylbenzimidazole (0.5 g).
