Reaction Steps

To a solution of 1.3 g (3.03 mmol) of 2-{2-[5′-(4-fluorophenyl)-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-2H-[1,2′]bipyridinyl-4-yl]ethyl}-isoindole-1,3-dione, prepared in step 1.3. in 30 mL of ethanol is added slowly at room temperature 0.485 g (15.13 mmol) of hydrazine monohydrate. The reaction mixture is then refluxed for 3 hours.
