A mixture of 3-chloro-N-methylpropane-1-sulfonamide (29 mmol), NaN3 (29 mmol) in DMF (50 ml) was stirred at 100° C. for 2 h. The mixture was poured into 40 ml of brine. The mixture was extracted with ether (3×30 ml). The organic layers were combined and washed with 20 ml of brine. The organic layer was dried with Na2SO4, filtered and the filtrate was evaporated. Yield: 4.2 g (90% purity, 81% yield).
