N,N-Dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal (0.210 mL, 1.58 mmol) was added to a solution of tert-butyl (6R,7R)-7-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-6-(4-ethoxy-2,4-dioxobutyl)-1,4-oxazepane-4-carboxylate (500 mg, 1.05 mmol) in toluene (5 mL), and the mixture was stirred at 80° C. for 2 hr, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in ethanol (5 mL), and methylhydrazine (0.062 mL, 1.16 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at 80° C. for 1.5 hr, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to give the title compound (175 mg).
