To a solution of tert-butyl (6R,7R)-6-[2-amino-2-(hydroxyimino)ethyl]-7-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,4-oxazepane-4-carboxylate (388 mg, 0.93 mmol) in toluene (4 mL) were added potassium tert-butoxide (208 mg, 1.86 mmol) and ethyl acetate (1 mL, 0.93 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at 100° C. overnight. To the reaction mixture was added water, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with brine, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to give the title compound (183.4 mg).
