Procedure

To a solution of the benzonitrile intermediate in methanol was added hydroxylamine hydrochloride. After heating to 50° C. with stirring for 16 h, the reaction mixture was cooled to RT and concentrated to afford the corresponding N-hydroxy-4-(hydroxymethyl)benz-imidamide derivative.
