Reaction Steps

To a solution of 2-fluoro-4-hydroxymethylbenzonitrile (CAS 222978-02-1) (2.5 g, 16.5 mmol) in methanol (30 mL) was added hydroxylamine hydrochloride (3 mL, 50 mmol). After heating to 50° C. with stirring for 16 h, the reaction mixture was cooled to RT and concentrated to afford 1.3 g of Intermediate 5.
