Methanol (10 mL) and Pd/C (100 mg) are added to a solution of [4-(2-methoxy-phenylethynyl)-pyridin-2-yl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (146 mg, 0.450 mmol) in ethyl acetate (10 mL). The mixture is evacuated and purged with H2 (three times), and stirred at the room temperature under an atmosphere of H2 for 2 hours. The mixture is evacuated and purged with Argon, and filtered through a pad of diatomaceous earth. The filtrate is concentrated to give the crude product, which is used in the next step without purification.
