2,6-Bis-(4-cyano-phenoxy)-3-(4-fluorobenzene-sulphonamido)-pyridine 0.3 g (0.61 mmol) was added to 70 ml of ethanol (saturated with HCl gas at −25° C.) and the reaction mixture was kept in a tight vessel at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 0.46 g of the crude product which was taken for the next step without purification. Percentage purity: 51.1%, (M+1)=578.1+1.
