100 mg (0.4 mmol) of N,N-dimethyl-4-(4-oxocyclohexyl)benzamide and 126 mg (0.4 mmol) of N-{2-oxo-2-[(3R)-pyrrolidin-3-ylamino]ethyl}-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzamide were dissolved in 10 mL of methylene chloride. To the solution was added 170 mg (0.8 mmol) of sodium triacetoxyborohydride. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. Direct chromatography on silica gel gave the final desired product 45 mg (top spot on TLC and first peak on HPLC), yield: 22%. MS: 545 (M+1)+.
