A 100-mL round bottom flask equipped with a magnetic stirrer and a reflux condenser was charged with 131h (330 mg, 1.5 mmol), 2,6-dibromo-4-fluorobenzaldehyde (1.26 g, 4.5 mmol), CuBr (113 mg, 0.8 mmol), sarcosine (142 mg, 1.6 mmol), K2CO3 (420 mg, 3.0 mmol), and dioxane (20 mL). See FIG. 15. After three cycles of vacuum/argon flush, the mixture was heated at 95° C. for 15 h. It was then cooled to room temperature and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure and the resulting residue was purified by silica-gel column chromatography 5:1 eluting with petroleum ether/ethyl acetate to 131i as a white solid (380 mg, 60%). MS-ESI: [M+H]+ 420.6
