To a reaction flask was added 4-bromo-5-fluoro-2-methoxyphenol (500 mg, 2.26 mmol), tert-butyl 4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-1-carboxylate (998 mg, 3.39 mmol), potassium phosphate (1.4 g, 6.79 mmol), and XPhosPalladacycle (178 mg, 0.23 mmol), followed by addition of DMF (11 mL). The vial was purged with N2 for 5 minutes and the reaction mixture was heated at 50° C. in the microwave for 16 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the crude product was purified by silica gel to afford tert-butyl 4-(2-fluoro-4-hydroxy-5-methoxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazole-1-carboxylate (700 mg) MS [M+H+]=307.5.
