The title compound was prepared according to the procedure described for the preparation of 2-butylimidazo[4,5-b]pyridine starting with 3,4-diaminopyridine. Yield: 3.69 g (92%) thick oil: 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ8.93 (s, 1H), 8.35 (d, 1H, J=6 Hz), 7.48 (d, 1H, J=6 Hz), 3.01 (t, 2H, J=7 Hz), 1.92-1.82 (m, 2H), 1.48-1.30 (m, 2H), 0.86 (t, 3H, J=7 Hz).
