Reaction Steps
A mixture of 0.63 g of t-butyl α-{5-[4-(6-t-butoxycarbonylmethoxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-2-ylmethoxy)benzyl]-2,4-dioxothiazolidin-3-yl}acetate (prepared as described in Example 48) and 6 ml of a 4N dioxane solution of hydrogen chloride was allowed to stand at room temperature overnight. At the end of this time, the reaction mixture was treated as the same manner described in Example 61, to give the title compound as a pale yellow powder, softening at 95°-100° C.
