A mixture of 340 mg of di-t-butyl α,α'-{5-[4-(6-t-butoxycarbonylmethoxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethyl -4-oxochroman-2-ylmethoxy)benzyl]-2,4-dioxothiazolidine-3,5-diyl}diacetate (prepared as described in Example 50) and 4 ml of a 4N dioxane solution of hydrogen chloride was treated in the same manner described in Example 61, to give the title compound as a pale yellow powder, softening at 105°-110° C.
