Procedure
The starting 5-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-N-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-2-sulfonamide (1.5 g, 3.4 mmol) was dissolved in 5 ml (44 mmol) of 50% aqueous dimethylamine. After stirring for 48 hours at room temperature the solution was diluted with water and acidified with 6N aqueous HCl. The solid which separated was collected by filtration and treated with 0.5N aqueous NaOH and filtered to remove insoluble material. The filtrate was acidified to precipitate a solid. The solid was collected and dried to yield 1.0 g (60%) of the desired product as a solid, mp >310° C. IR and 1H NMR spectra were in agreement with the assigned structure.
