Reaction Steps

590 mg (2.44 mmol) of N-benzyl-5,6-dihydroxyisoindoline was dissolved in 10 ml of acetone, and 0.16 ml (2.5 mmol) of methyl iodide was added thereto at room temperature. The mixture was left to stand for 4 hours, and the precipitated crystals were collected by filtration and washed with 10 ml of acetone to obtain 733 mg of the above identified compound.
