2.7 g of (3-benzyloxy-4-nitrophenyl)acetonitrile is reduced with diborane, as described in the preparation of 2-benzyloxy-5-(2-dipropylamino)aniline, and converted into the hydrochloride, thus obtaining 3.2 g of 2-(3-benzyloxy-4-nitrophenyl)ethylamine, hydrochloride.
