200 mg (0.395 mMol) of tert.butyl (S)-2-ethoxy-4-[N-(1-(2-piperidino-phenyl)-3-methyl-1-butyl)-aminocarbonylmethyl]-benzoate (melting point: 122°-123° C.; [α]D20 =+8.7°; c=1 in methanol) are stirred into 2 ml of methylene chloride together with 0.45 g (3.95 mMol) of trifluoroacetic acid overnight at ambient temperature. The mixture is evaporated down in vacuo and the evaporation residue is distributed between aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate solution and ethyl acetate. The organic extract is dried, filtered and evaporated down in vacuo. The evaporation residue is crystallised from ethanol/water (2/1).
