Procedure

A solution of 2-Methyl-1-oxo-4-pyridin-3-yl-2,7-diaza-spiro[4.5]decane-7-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester [from diastereomer 1] (200 mg, 0.58 mmol) in DCM (5 ml) was cooled with an ice bath and TFA (0.70 ml, 8.68 mmol) was added. The resulting solution was stirred for 3 h at 0° C. The reaction mixture was diluted with DCM (20 ml) and quenched at 0° C. with 2M NaOH solution (8 ml). The organic phase was separated, washed with brine (5 ml), dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound as a yellow oil.
