5-Amino-2-(2-dimethylamino-ethyl)-2H-isoquinolin-1-one (50 mg, 0.0002 mol), benzoyl chloride (36 mg, 0.00026 mol) and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (110 mg, 0.00086 mol) were stirred in methylene chloride (3 mL, 0.05 mol) at room temperature for 2 hours. The mixture was diluted with CH2Cl2 (20 mL) and the organic layer was separated and washed with NaHCO3 (10 mL), dried over Na2SO4, and purified via flash column chromatography (12 g of silica gel, 10% MeOH/CH2Cl2) to give the product as a light yellow solid.
