Procedure

6-Chloro-N-methyl-4-propylnicotinamide (123 mg, 0.578 mol) was dissolved in tetrahydrofuran (2 mL), added 1-piperazineethanol (355 μL, 2.89 mol) at room temperature, and stirred at 100° C. for 18 hours. The reaction solution was purified by silica-gel column chromatography (chloroform/methanol). The title compound (177 mg (yield >99%)) was obtained as a yellow crystal.
