Procedure
N′-(1-benzyloxythiocarbonylamino-cyclopropyl)-hydrazinecarboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.25 g, 0.684 mmol) was dissolved in 4N HCl in dioxane (4 mL) and the reaction allowed to stir at room temperature overnight. The mixture was triturated with Et2O and the resulting precipitate collected by filtration. The precipitate was washed with Et2O to give (1-hydrazino-cyclopropyl)-thiocarbamic acid O-benzyl ester hydrochloride (0.15 g, 0.48 mmol) as a white solid, m/z 266.5 [M+H]+.
