Procedure
[1-(5-Trifluoromethyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)-cyclopropyl]-carbamic acid benzyl ester (0.22 g, 0.67 mmol) was dissolved in 33% HBr in acetic acid (0.5 mL) and the reaction allowed to stir for 30 min at RT. The mixture was diluted with Et2O resulting is formation of a white precipitate. The majority of the liquid was decanted off and the residue concentrated under reduce pressure to give 1-(5-trifluoromethyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)-cyclopropylamine hydrobromide (0.19 g, 0.69 mmol) as an orange solid.
