9-Ethyl-2-nitro-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-5-oxa-9-aza-benzocycloheptene (486 mg, 2.19), 10% Palladium on Carbon (50% Wet) (302 mg) and Hydrazine monohydrate (1.00 g, 20.0 mmol) in Ethanol (20 mL) was heated at 60° C. After 4 h, the mixture was filtered and conc. in vacuo. After azeotroping with toluene and drying, 9-Ethyl-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-5-oxa-9-aza-benzocyclohepten-2-ylamine was isolated in quantitative yield.
