A mixed solution of 1-methylspiro[indolin-3,4′-piperidine] (1.0 g) synthesized according to a method described in [WO 2011/046851 pamphlet, (preparation 15)], 4-(bromomethyl)benzoic acid (1.08 g), and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (2.61 mL) in ethanol (20 mL) was heated and refluxed for 2 hours. To the resultant reaction mixture, N,N-diisopropylethylamine (1.04 mL) was further added, and the resultant reaction mixture was heated and refluxed for 2 hours. The reaction solution was left to reach room temperature, and from the reaction solution, the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure to obtain a mixture (2.37 g) containing the subject compound. The resultant mixture was used in the next reaction without further purification.
