In a similar manner as described above in Paragraph A, a solution of 1,1-dimethylethyl 4-[[4-(4-chlorophenoxy)phenyl]amino]-1-piperidinecarboxylate (1.34 g, 3.3 mmol) in dichloromethane (10 mL) was stirred as a solution of 4 M hydrochloric acid in dioxane (3.3 mL, 13.3 mmol) was added. The reaction was stirred for 17 hours. Solvent was removed to yield 1.14 g of N-[4-(4-chlorophenoxy)phenyl]-4-piperidinamine hydrochloride salt.
