To a mixture of 4-((tert-butyl(dimethyl)silyl)oxy)-2′-fluoro-5′-methoxybiphenyl-2-yl trifluoromethanesulfonate (405 mg), 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-3,6-dihydro-2H-pyran (452 mg), palladium acetate (20 mg), dicyclohexyl(2′,4′,6′-triisopropylbiphenyl-2-yl)phosphine (83 mg), methanol (3 mL) and toluene (3 mL) was added potassium fluoride (151 mg) and, under microwave irradiation, the mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 20 min. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate. The diluted solution was washed with water and saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate/hexane) to give the title compound (125 mg) as white crystals.
